1. Select a Router:

2. Locate Gateway Login Information:

After purchasing the router you need to set up it. After setting up just find its gateway login information. The information is provided in the form of a username and password.

All this information will be provided to you while you sign for the AT&T fiber connection. But remember login information is very important without it you can not access your router settings.

3. Login:

In this step, you need to log in to access your router settings. For this just open a web browser and search for 192.168.1.254. After searching this you will be redirected to the login page of the router just put your login username and password here.

4. Setting up:

After login, you will reach the setting page of the router where you need to go to the go-to LAN>DHCP.  Then you need to alter the range to 172.16.0.0 and cache it. That’s all about the setting process of the router.

5. Plugin:

When you finish your setting process then your internet connection will automatically be turned off. Now you need to plug in your new router and do not forget to connect it with your AT&T device. At last, unplug the network cable from your laptop or desktop and plug it in again. Just take care of your power connection.

6. Go back to Setting:

In the next step, you need to go back to the gateway setting and go to the firewall section. Then select applications, pinholes, and DMZ.

7. Configure:

Now on the configuration page, you will see your IP address, and if it is showing address 172.16. Then there is some mistake in the configuration. Just go to the configuration again and try to figure out the issue.

8. Disable AT&T Router:

In the very last step, you need to disable your AT&T  router which was given to you at the time of subscription. For disabling the router just go back to the gateway settings page and click on the Settings option.

Then go to LAN and select the Wi-Fi option. After that check whether the status is disabled or not. If you are using a dual-band router then disable both the bands before using the internet. That’s all.
